Our Story

SUNDOG Candle Co. is a premium home fragrance brand that specializes in all natural soy wax candles. Our products are thoughtfully designed, blended, and hand poured in small batches in our Ottawa, Canada studio.

A true maker at heart, Valerie Ann founded SUNDOG Candle Co. in 2016 out of a love and passion for creating unique, handcrafted home goods.

With a minimal and modern design, our ambition at SUNDOG Candle Co. has always been to create beautifully crafted products that inspire harmony and balance in everyday life. The soft glow, calming aromas, and soothing crackle of the burning wood wick are intended to help us naturally reflect, relax, and reconnect with ease.

We all lead busy lives and at SUNDOG Candle Co. we believe in taking time to soothe the mind, body, and soul. With this, a portion of every purchase is donated in support of mental health to promote meaningful change, build greater awareness, acceptance, and action. Mental illness touches us all, whether personally, through a friend, a family member, or a colleague. Burn your SUNDOG candle in support of mental health to help end the stigma around mental illness.

WHY SUNDOG?
The name SUNDOG was inspired by a dear friend. While spending a weekend together, she witnessed a beautiful halo in the morning sky. This halo was called a "sundog". A sundog is an atmospheric phenomenon that consists of bright light creating a halo, or circular formation, around the sun. In this moment the sun resembled a burning candle.
